Site evaluation, soil prep, and precision laying
We begin with a thorough consultation and measurement, then assess soil texture, compaction, sunlight, irrigation coverage, and runoff patterns. Existing vegetation and debris are removed, the soil is amended as needed, and the grade is set for proper drainage. Final raking creates a smooth, firm surface ready for immediate sod placement.
Fresh-cut sod is laid in a running-bond pattern with tight seams, aligned edges, and clean transitions at walkways and beds. We apply starter fertilizer as needed, roll the lawn to ensure soil contact, water-in immediately, and perform a walkthrough with care instructions so you know exactly how to protect your new turf.
Protecting and strengthening new turf from day one
Water deeply right after installation to saturate the soil beneath the sod. For the first 10–14 days, keep the sod uniformly moist without causing puddling or runoff—typically light, frequent watering is best. As roots begin to knit into the soil, reduce frequency and increase depth so water reaches 4–6 inches, encouraging strong root development.
Delay mowing until the sod has rooted firmly and grass reaches the recommended height for its variety. Use sharp blades, remove no more than one-third of the leaf at a time, and avoid heavy foot traffic or equipment until the lawn feels secure underfoot. Edges and seams should remain moist and protected during this period.
About 4–6 weeks after installation, apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer if needed, and address isolated weeds with products safe for new sod.
